Duma Works is recruiting a Firmware Development Engineer for BRCK.

The BRCK development group consists of world-class mechanical, electrical and software engineers fostering a new age of hardware development on the continent.

The role is open to local applicants and international applicants willing to make a transition to Kenya.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with a passion for enabling communication globally. 

The company has very ambitious plans and are looking for someone that can share their vision, and take the BRCK product to the next level.
The company is looking for a C++ guru. Able to understand real world memory management, device drivers. their toolkit consists of MSP430, ARM M-series and Atmel AVR devices. 

You’ll work closely with the electrical engineering team and the OS team to make our products do amazing things in amazing places.
Skills and Requirements
  • Qualification from a related field.
  • Previous experience most preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years writing commercial embedded or server grade software (not web or mobile software)
  • Minimum of 3 years developing with C++ or other low level language.
  • Proven understanding of 32bit microcontrollers and embedded firmware development
Optional Skills and Experience
  • Experience with embedded RTOS or embedded Linux
  • Device driver design and implementation
Priority given to individuals with a proven track record of pushing the envelope, thinking creatively and a passion for global communication.
Travel: Up to 10% international travel will be required.
Location: The role is based in BRCK Design office in Nairobi. This is a fixed location role, as you’ll be working with real hardware and real people.
