QualiBasic Seed Company Warehouse Supervisor Job in Nairobi, Kenya

QualiBasic Seed (QBS) is a company established in 2017, to produce and supply Foundation Seed (FS) to seed companies in East and Southern Africa, with the aim to be the preferred supplier of Foundation Seed to the ultimate benefit of Africa’s Farmers.
 
We are looking to recruit a suitably qualified person for the position of Warehouse Supervisor (WS) based at our headquarter warehouse in Nairobi, Kenya. 

The job requires a qualified, experienced individual who has experience of managing a warehouse, ideally working with seeds.
 
 
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the WS is responsible for managing the warehousing, goods-in and goods-out operations of our Kenyan warehouse as well as assuring HSEQ compliance and inventory protection with respect to the warehouse.

The Warehouse Supervisor will 
  • control the storage and movement of all seed (raw, processed and treated) according to QBS warehouse guidelines; 
  • Ensure all inventory movement is fully documented according to QBS policies and systems; 
  • Ensure customer orders are fulfilled and dispatched in a timely manner and are accompanied by the required documentation; 
  • Liaise with transporters to ensure cost effective movement of inventory; 
  • Ensure the security of the inventory and make sure it’s free from any pests and vermin; 
  • Plan fumigation of the seed in the storage warehouses and co-ordinate third party fumigation; 
  • Supervise and train warehouse workers on Health, Environmental, Safety and Quality (HSEQ) policies, warehouse operations and seed storage procedures; 
  • Carryout activities in the warehouse according to agreed HSEQ procedures; 
  • Assist in the liaison with Seed Certification Agents and regulatory authorities;
  • Destroy and dispose of all written off seed as approved; 
  • Report any nonconformities to the Operations Manager; 
  • Assist with inventory management and control, using agreed systems and processes and support the Finance department in monthly stock taking; 
  • Suggest improvements to warehousing & HSEQ procedures and policies to ensure best use of QBS resources and achieve improved efficiency and safety.
The candidate must have 
  • Diploma level education in a relevant discipline; 
  • Supervisory Skills and experience; 
  • Computer literacy; 
  • Valid Driving License; 
  • Awareness of regulations and certification pertaining to in-country & cross border seed trade in ESA; 
  • A customer focused individual, committed to building a reputation for trust and reliability; 
  • A highly proficient level of written / spoken English;
  • Performance and results driven attitude; 
  • Willing to work flexibly with respect to starting and finishing times; 
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
