USAID Kenya is seeking proposals from interested parties to manage a USAID Scholarship Program for OVCs in Kenya to ensure a quality secondary, mid-level college or university education for the academic years 2009-2013. The scholarships will target OVCs, who have lost one or both parents or legal guardians from HIV/AIDS.
Scholarship funds may be used to cover the following fees: cost of practicum, tuition, registration, examinations, research, basic stationery, uniforms, textbooks, boarding costs, school supplies, transportation and student stipends. Scholarship funds may also pay for the student's contribution for school repairs, maintenance, electricity, water, conservancy, medical fee, activity fee, caution money and development projects.
The successful contractor must be able to manage and disburse funds rapidly to schools in most districts of Kenya by January 1, 2009, coordinate with school principals to ensure a quality education is provided and monitor the recipient's progress over the scholarship period. The contractor must be able to provide counseling and mentoring services to scholarship recipients as may be required.
