Exports and International Sales Manager

Key Accountability/Result Areas

The main objective of this role is to grow sales and increase KWAL’s presence in the Region and beyond and also manage Subsidiaries, Exports business and the Duty Free business by providing leadership and implementing appropriate strategies.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:-
  • Managing and processing export orders
  • Ensuring all specified terms and conditions of export orders are met and that documentation is as per the requirements i.e. export licences, custom declarations, and packing, shipping and conveyance of products
  • Managing the exports’ processes of the Company products in accordance with the organizational policies and procedures, and to comply with international law and other requirements
  • Maintaining information on import-export tariffs, licenses and restrictions
  • Negotiating contracts with foreign sales and distribution centres to establish outlets
  • Directing Department staff to expedite export correspondence, bid requests, and credit collections
  • Ensuring that customers are updated on order processing and loadings
  • Ensuring subsidiary supplies are well managed
  • Budget preparation, execution and control
  • Following up with the Accounts and Finance Department on transit bonds cancellations
  • Conducting new market surveys and analysis of information to facilitate market retention and penetration.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2000 requirements.
Qualifications and Competencies
  • First degree in Business related studies or Social sciences from a recognized institution.
  • Holders of a Degree in International Business or MBA will have an added advantage
  • Must possess strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must possess strong skills in Marketing and Sales management
  • Must have ability to set, implement and achieve goals, objectives and targets for different sales
  • Must have the ability to plan, co-ordinate, motivate and control staff and activities in line with their duties
  • Self-motivated and able to achieve set goals
  • Prepared to travel extensively
  • Team player
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years marketing and sales experience in a Senior Management position
  • Multilingual skills including English, Swahili, French is desirable
Distribution Manager

Key Accountability/Result Areas

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:-
  • Monitoring the quality, quantity, cost and efficiency of the movement and storage of goods
  • Monitoring stock and re-order levels plus tracking movement of goods
  • Coordinating and controlling the order cycle and associated information systems
  • Analyzing data to monitor performance and plan improvements and demand
  • Allocating and managing staff resources according to changing needs
  • Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers
  • Developing business by gaining new contracts, analyzing logistical problems and providing new solutions
  • Establishing and maintaining policies and procedures that result in the maximization of sales through timely delivery
  • Preparation and monitoring of the Department’s budget
  • Ensuring availability of adequate, efficient and reliable transporters to deliver products to various destinations within the Country and to the Subsidiaries
  • Ensuring proper, safe receipt, storage, and handling of products at the Depots
  • Ensuring that the Depots have adequate resources and equipment for efficient operations
  • Ensuring that all Depots have operating procedures and are followed by all employees
  • Ensuring all transporters meet required standards as per the distribution policy
  • Ensuring that Depots have adequate staff
  • Responsible for product safety and quality during loading and while in transit
  • Staff appraisals in the Department
  • Ensuring compliance with legal requirements
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Must hold a minimum Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering or Social Sciences from a reputable University
  • A Minimum of 5 years experience in a Management position
  • Must be computer literate with strong analytical skills
  • Must have good interpersonal skills
  • Must have ability to prepare and present reports
  • Good leadership skills, good team leader
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
Country Representative (Uganda)

Key Accountability/Result Areas

Reporting directly to the Exports and International Sales Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for:-
  • Recruiting new distributors and maintaining the existing ones
  • Planning and managing execution of marketing activities
  • Managing relationships with clients, customs and Government authorities to ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements
  • Setting up and managing sales distribution channels for the Market in accordance with the existing policies and procedures
  • Enhancing and maintaining KWAL Corporate image in Uganda
  • Managing and supervising all staff in the Subsidiary and conducting induction training to new staff
  • Preparing annual budgetary estimates and monitoring monthly expenditure for the Subsidiary in line with existing policies and procedures
  • Identifying new markets in the export facet
  • Preparing and submitting marketing analysis reports
  • Ensuring credit control and timely debt collection as per existing policies and procedures
  • Monitoring, preparing and submitting routine, weekly and monthly reports on sales performance against targets
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Degree in a Business related discipline or Social Science. Holders of a Degree in International Business will have an added advantage
  • Diploma in sales and marketing from an accredited institution an added advantage
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational, Communication, presentation and leadership skills
  • Holder of a valid driving license
  • Customer focused and creative
  • A team player of high integrity and self-discipline
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar Sales position as a team leader
Brands Manager

Key Accountability/Result Areas

Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, the Main Responsibility of this position is to initiate sustainable strategic growth and development of KWAL brands.

She/he will achieve this by leading the KWAL brands team that manages the brand portfolio on a day to day basis to make it profitable and sustainable in line with KWAL’s strategic growth objectives.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:-
  • Creating and implementing brand plans.
  • Generation and implementation of brand related marketing strategies
  • Generation of consumer insights
  • Generating, planning and implementing consumer and customer communication
  • Drawing up and managing brand budgets
  • Initiating and organizing promotional/ marketing campaigns in line with brand plans.
  • Providing and managing support tools for field sales representatives
  • Organizing, Monitoring and placing point of sale materials for the sake of brand visibility
  • Liaising with the relevant service providers for implementation of marketing activities e.g. product launches, designing of branded materials, planning media activities etc
  • Initiating product development in keeping with changing consumer tastes and preferences & championing geo-marketing, market research and intelligence.
  • Educating key stakeholders like distributors and stockists including their staff on brands to effectively service the end- user
Qualifications and Competencies
  • First Degree in a Business Related/Marketing Course is a requirement, while an MBA specializing in marketing management or equivalent from a recognized university is an added advantage
  • At least 3 years experience in a similar position in FMCG
  • Must be over 28 years old
  • Team player with excellent managerial, organization and interpersonal skills
  • Communications, report writing, interpretation of market research presentations, response to customer inquiries and complaints and negotiation skills are a must
  • Demonstrating ability to lead a team
  • Strong ICT skills and well versed with Microsoft office suite
  • CIM and or MSK qualification will be an added advantage
  • Strong analytical skills
Public Relations and Corporate Affairs Officer

Key Accountability/Result Areas

The main Responsibility of this Position is to develop, implement and maintain strategic corporate and brand communication plans that influence and enhance the efficiency of all communication of the Company to the market and to key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will also be required to nurture, develop and maintain a positive image of KWAL to the general public by fostering the Company’s ability to strategically drive the corporate image and respond appropriately to customer

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible
  • Coordinating and collating all queries with respect to KWAL from the general public, stakeholders and ensuring appropriate responses
  • Monitoring media queries and activities and preparing appropriate responses for the Chief Executive Officer to action accordingly
  • Developing and continuously improving the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy of KWAL
  • Collecting/receiving and communicating information that may give KWAL strategic advantage over competition
  • Managing the corporate brands and identity and ensuring consistency and quality control in all replication, production and utilization of the corporate logo in corporate communications
  • Managing all planning and execution of public relations and communication aspects of corporate events e.g. sponsorships, launches, etc and ensuring they meet the corporate execution standards of enhancing the corporate image and reputation of the Company
  • Coordinating the compilation, editorial, design and production of corporate communications publications including – corporate brochures, annual reports & accounts, service charters etc to ensure conformity with corporate brand guidelines as well as meeting and exceeding the requirements/expectations of the target and audience for the various publications
  • Developing company strategic initiatives and corporate affairs programs and projects and advising and recommending to the Company possible outcomes and response scenarios of the above programs and implementing accordingly upon approvals
  • Preparing and submitting weekly, monthly and periodic reports including media monitoring, management reports, etc within schedule and up to standard
  • Working with the Brands management team to improve the quality execution and overall impact of marketing communications and activities
  • Any other duties assigned by the management
Qualifications and Competencies
  • A Bachelors degree in Communications/Journalism or a Business related Degree plus a postgraduate diploma in Communication/Journalism
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position
  • Must possess strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and meet tight deadlines
HR Officer – Training & Development

Key Accountability/Result Areas

The HR – Training and Development Officer will be charged with efficient and effective
management of the human resource development function, reporting to the Human Resources Manager.

Specifically, She/he will be responsible for:-
  • Managing staff induction and coordinating on-the-job training for new staff.
  • Coordinating training needs assessment
  • Administering and evaluating training needs
  • Coordinating KWAL management and career development programmes
  • Designing training courses and programmes necessary to meet corporate and departmental training needs in consultation with accredited external training providers
  • Identifying, selecting and managing external training and accreditation bodies, agencies and providers necessary to deliver required training to appropriate standards
  • Monitoring, evaluating and reporting on staff training and development plans and achievements
  • Advising departmental heads on career development of staff in line with original needs and priorities
  • Ensuring timely execution and analysis of staff performance appraisals
  • Carrying out exit interviews and preparing reports accordingly
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences
  • Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management
  • Well versed with Microsoft office suite
  • Trained in organizational awareness and Human Resource Information Systems
  • 3 years experience in a similar position with 1 year experience in FMCG environment
  • Good team player and communicator, of high integrity and self discipline, Customer Focused and Creative
Insurance Officer

Key Accountability/Result Areas

The main Responsibility of this Position is to manage the Company’s insurance function and provide insurance administrative support to the company.

Reporting to the Company Secretary/Legal Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for:-
  • Facilitating timely processing of quotations and tender documents for all company insurance covers by ensuring all requisite information and documents are availed promptly to the Procurement Department
  • Ensuring policy documents for all company insurances are fully and properly documented promptly received and kept in safe custody thereof maintained
  • Continuously reviewing company insurance requirements and advising on the profiles of risks to be presented for insurance cover
  • Lodging insurance claims on behalf of the company and making the necessary follow ups
  • Verifying all risk/debit notes before processing the same for payment
  • Ensuring all credits and refunds due to the Company in respect of insurance are paid
  • Handling correspondence related to insurance matters
  • Attending to enquiries and complaints on insurance matters from staff, brokers, agents, external lawyers, insurers and others
  • Handing all company insurance administrative issues
  • Responsible for other administrative duties as may be assigned
Qualifications and Competencies
  • Graduate in a Business related degree. Holders of Bachelor of Commerce (Insurance option) will have an added advantage
  • Advanced professional qualifications in Insurance ( ACII (UK)or AII(K)
  • Well versed with Microsoft office suite
  • Knowledge of insurance law
  • Knowledge of Public procurement rules and Regulations
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in underwriting or claims with an insurance company/broker or in a similar position
  • A person of high Integrity
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Self discipline
  • Good communicator
