AFEX Project Manager Job in Juba, South Sudan

AFEX, a Lonrho company, provides camp construction, catering, management and logistics support to the Oil and Gas, Mining, UN and NGO sectors, in some of the most remote corners of Africa.  

With headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, AFEX provides international standard service delivery, combined with 30 years of regional operational experience. 

The AFEX Team is dedicated to ensuring clients have peace of mind that their projects will run on schedule and to budget, with their personnel being cared for to a high international standard.  

AFEX wishes to recruit competent, innovative and self-driven persons to fill the following positions to be based in South Sudan.  The project will run for 6 months with a possibility of extension.  

Upon extension, the candidate may be considered for permanent employment. 

Project Manager
Job Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and supervision of the delivery and construction of a mobile containerised camp from start to finish. 

Organize and oversee the team and ensure the project is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:
  • BSc/BA in engineering, building science or relevant field
  • 10 years proven experience as construction project manager
  • Well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve the best results.
  • In-depth understanding of construction procedures; material, logistical, & project management principles
  • Be naturally confident, polite, respectful and diplomatic when dealing with the community; government officials; and the client. You will ensure all subcontractors follow the same ethos.
  • The job will necessitate time spent working in remote and logistically challenging locations.
  • Fully conversant in International Quality, Health, and Safety (QHSE) Standards
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent knowledge with construction/ project management software including MS Project
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Strong leadership and human resources management skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Experience in project managing remote camp construction, ideally in East Africa
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
