The Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) - General Secretariat is the national administrative, facilitative and coordinative arm through which KCCB undertakes all responsibilities which express the KCCB mission in Kenya.

KCCB is the prime recipient of the grant entitled Kenya AIDS Response Program (KARP) awarded by US Centers’ for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) under the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). 

KCCB-KARP is seeking candidates for the following position to be based in Kisumu.

Health Supply Chain Specialist

The overall job function is to provide technical expertise, coordination and supervision of all pharmaceutical supply chain and commodity management, forecasting, quantification and reporting for Kenya AIDS Response Program) KARP).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership on the supply chain and commodity management aspects of HIV service delivery activities to ensure effective implementation, collaboration, teamwork and collegiality for these activities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in supply chain management issues, including in forecasting, procurement, storage and distribution, support ART dispensing tool and EMR platforms, and liquidation of SC related financial expenses from supported sites.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of costed supply chain and commodity management project work-plans
  • Review and monitor program procurement plans to ensure robust supply chain strategies and technical assistance.
  • Oversee the integration of KARP’s technical approaches in commodity management and reporting using evidence informed, innovative and best practices.
  • Conduct supply chain market intelligence and analysis to provide support to supported sites on HIV related commodity supply chain procurement and supply chain strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership in creating and strengthening supply chain and commodity management at facility, sub-county and county levels ensuring there is seamless implementation of activities leading to improved health outcomes.
  • Provide technical leadership in the preparation of supply chain and commodity management related monthly, quarterly and other reports as may be required and submit these to the Senior Technical Advisor in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical leadership in weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual project performance reviews for supply chain and commodity management activities in collaboration with other project teams.
  • Provide technical leadership on Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance interventions in supply chain and commodity management activities at facility, program and county level in collaboration with CHMTs and KARP TA teams.
  • Participate in the donor progress report writing, continuation application and quarterly review report writing and presentation.
  • Participate in site preparation for supportive supervision and SIMS assessments and ensure recommendations are implemented at facility level by project team in collaboration with KARP regional and TA teams.
  • Overall coordination with supported sites and CHMTs on implementation of supply chain and commodity management related service delivery work plans.
  • Represent the project in technical supply chain and commodity management forums at sub-county, county and national level.
  • Facilitate training and development of supply chain teams at supported health facilities for effective performance
  • Support program wide pharmacovigilance activities and provide regular reports on adverse drug events.
Academic Qualification and Experience
  • Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registration by the Kenya Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • Postgraduate degree in public health/management/supply chain an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in medical supply chain management.
  • Experience working in PEPFAR funded HIV programs
