Job Vacancy: Monitoring Evaluation Reporting and Learning Officer

Founded in 2004, Kesho takes a novel long-term, creative and holistic approach to change that includes offering financial support for education, academic and literacy support, enrichment and training, child protection and family support and youth development.

The Position: An exciting opportunity has arisen within Kesho for an innovative, effective, self-driven Monitoring Evaluation, Reporting and Learning Officer to enhance our monitoring and evaluation efforts in pursuit of our strategic objectives. 

The position is for an initial contract period of 1 year and renewable subject to satisfactory performance. 

The position location is Kesho Office, Kilifi.

Job Purpose: Kesho  adopts a culture of data-driven decision-making and works with sophisticated  program performance management platforms that embeds learning and experimentation.
The MERL Officer will be at the heart of ensuring high standards and quality around M&E with the aim of promoting successful learning across the organization.   
The position will work closely with the Programme Manager to develop a monitoring and evaluation framework for Kesho’s Programmes and projects, as well as recommend and implement outcome metrics to measure the impact of Programmes and projects focused on key outcomes.

Main Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain Monitoring system aligned with Programs needs and targets
  • Recommend outcome metrics for Kesho’s projects and Programmes
  • Ensure timely data collection and accuracy for the purpose of planning, implementation, monitoring programme performance and evaluations.
  • Develop  and implement monitoring checklists and questionnaires for various monitoring assessment, surveys and evaluation
  • Visit project sites and assess the progress of project and Programme activities in accordance with the approved work plans  to assure data quality and identify adaptations where needed.
  • Maintain close working relation with stakeholders in liaison with the Programme Manager
  • Prepare monitoring feedback and progress reports based on Programme and project activities analyzed
  • Maintain appropriate updated records both physical and computerized
  • Make recommendations to improve programme management and design
  • Lead review of monitoring results with programmes and leadership staff
Knowledge, Skills & Experience and Personal Attributes

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Social Science with strong research and statistical analysis component
  • At least 3 years practical experience in data analysis and analyzing outcome metrics
  • Solid knowledge and experience in data collection, data analysis and presentation
  • Engaging and interactive trainer with passion for coaching team members
  • Wide experience in coordination of field-based Monitoring activities
  • Knowledge of quantitative & qualitative research approaches

  • ICT proficiency including excellent working knowledge of data analysis and graphic representation in Excel and other statistical packages
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good skills in data analysis presentation and report writing
  • Good working knowledge of programme cycle management and development
