SACCO Collection / Recovery Officer Job in Kenya

Our client a medium sized Savings & Credit Cooperative Society (SACCO) in Nairobi wishes to recruit a competent individual to fill the position of Collection / Recovery Officer
 
Primary Responsibility: Reporting to the Credit Manager, the Collection / Recovery Officer will be responsible for supporting branch collections and recovery processes by ensuring recovery and debt collection processes are dully followed. 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare reports and make recommendations on bad debts for further decision making.
  • Maintain an updated register on loan related insurance claims and ensure prompt reimbursement.
  • Monitor debt collection response cycles and contacts as well as credit control performance.
  • Report and monitor all risks associated with debt recovery.
  • Ensure collection portfolio remains within accepted limits  by monitoring allocated accounts on daily basis and appropriate actions taken to ensure that the
  • Investigate and resolve any customer queries and complaints in line with the Sacco policies.
  • Identify and escalate deceased or disabled customers to management for review or collection termination.
  • Regularly review non-performing classes of outstanding loans and initiates recovery plans
  • Recommend to management about the likelihood of recovering loans and advise if legal action will be required.
  • Maximize recoveries from written off accounts and making daily reports about the same.
  • Locate defaulters and follow up on outstanding including negotiating rescheduled repayment plan.
  • Review cases already handed over to lawyers to ascertain the current position.
  • Compile all required periodic loan recovery reports for all Branches.
Academic Qualification and Work Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cooperative Management or any business field, professional qualifications in credit management, preferably Certified Credit Professional (CCP) will be an added advantage
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in debt recovery in a financial institution
  • Self-motivated, proactive, honest and decisive with quick judgment, excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical and critical thinking skills.
