TechnoServe Regional Director NGO Job in Kenya

Duma Works is recruiting for a Regional Director position for our client TechnoServe; a non-profit economic development organization that is involved in assisting farmers access information, capital and markets. 
Role: We are seeking a seasoned leader as the next Regional Director of the East Africa Division. 

The right person will bring a passion for economic development, along with the capabilities to lead and expand operations in our largest region of over 600 staff. 

The current country portfolio in East Africa is Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya, Eastern DRC and Southern Sudan (currently evacuated).

The Regional Director (RD) will report to the Chief Operating Officer and serve as a member of TechnoServe’s global senior management team.

Previous experience working with organizations of TechnoServe’s size and scope is important and business experience is highly desirable.
The RD will model and inculcate in others TechnoServe’s values of collegiality, integrity, resourcefulness, and results.
The preferred location for this position is within the East Africa region; however, there are no international allowances for the position.

 If not based in the region, the position will be based in our Washington, DC headquarters for those with U.S. work eligibility or in a country where TechnoServe has operations with favorable time zone and travel connections to the region.
Minimum Requirements
  • You will be a seasoned, strategic organizational leader who brings the following expertise and attributes into the role:
  • Bachelor’s degree; with preference for master’s degree such as an MBA, MPP or MIA
  • A minimum of ten years of leadership experience, preferably with a mix of commercial and international development experience.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience in at least one developing country
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multicultural and geographically dispersed teams in complex working environments
  • Proven track record in successful business and program development design and authoring/overseeing winning proposals
  • Strong foundational knowledge in one or more of these areas: economic growth, value chains, private sector, agriculture, entrepreneurship and/or SMEs
  • An effective and inspiring communicator and negotiator with strong communication skills in all modes in English
  • Demonstrated passion for TechnoServe’s mission and desire to work in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to motivate, develop and retain staff
  • Able to travel regionally and internationally up to 50 percent of time. If based in Washington, DC, applicants must have indefinite US work eligibility at the time of application
