CAP Youth Empowerment Institute (CAP YEI) has received a grant from the GIZ “Youmatch” Program to carry out research that will explore the integration of Life Skills into the curriculum of the Government TVET system. 

Life skills is an integral part of the Government approved Competency Based Education and Training (CBET) approach which is being implemented by the TVET Curriculum Development, Assessment and Certification Council (CDACC). 

 
CDACC is Government entity that was established under the TVET Act 2013, section 44.
 
Lead Researcher
 
We are looking for a qualified person or company to support this project in the role of Lead Researcher. 

This will be will a short term consulting contract to be completed within six months. 

The candidate must have at least 10years experience working in the field of Training, community development, youth development, employability, leadership, TVET or equivalent.
 
The selected candidate must be qualified in research methodology and demonstrated experience in carrying out similar projects.
 
Terms of Reference
 
The following activities shall constitute the scope of work under this contract
  • Be responsible for the final outputs of the research project as agreed with Youmatch
  • Oversee the design of research tools, methodology, protocols and their application
  • Make final selection, determination and allocation of research sample
  • Supervise data gathering, analysis, quality and report writing
  • Design protocols for post research dissemination and follow up
  • Prepare and present findings of research to stakeholder, regional conferences and others selected in consultation with Youmatch.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of key outputs including; data sample selection, application of research questionnaires, data gathering and final report writing.
  • Qualitatively validate the outcome of research findings before final presentation to Youmatch
  • Any other tasks as may be requested by CAPYEI
Research Assistant
 
We are looking for a qualified person to support this project in the role of a Research Assistant. 

This will be a short term consulting contract lasting six months.
 
The candidate must have at least 2 years experience working in the field of community development, preferably in youth development, employability, leadership or TVET. 

Experience with public private sector partnership is desired.
 
Terms of Reference 

The following activities shall constitute the scope of work under this contract
  • Prepare tools and processes for the research in a timely manner
  • Organize training and any related events to actualize the research
  • Support the advertisement, selection and confirmation of the research sample
  • Serve as the primary link with stakeholders, Youmatch working group members and all other parties involved in the project
  • Supervise the printing and organization of the project materials and their distribution
  • Support the team in their data gathering and analysis
  • Oversee the implementation of life skills training in the selected VTC’s
  • Prepare regular reports on project progress
  • Prepare any necessary communication  items
  • Perform supplementary desktop research as may be required
  • Support lead researchers in the writing of draft reports and editing of final copies
  • Other tasks as may be assigned by the lead researchers and CAP YEI Executive Director.
