indam Group Limited Farming Manager Job in Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania

indam Group Limited is recruiting on behalf of Molomo Farm. It owns over 1700 acres of land dealing with over 600 cattle. 

Molomo farm is looking for a well-experienced Farm Manager who will be able to oversee the day-to-day activities of the farm.

Farming Manager
Job Description: To manage and ensure profitability of a Dairy Farm located in West Kilimanjaro. The farm manager will be responsible for overseeing all the operational duties of the farm, focusing on the farm profitability in the short and long term through effective use of available resources. 

This will include coordinating all departments (Dairy, Animal Fodder, Irrigation) and  designing / implementing a feasible plan for production and sale of crops.
Job Description
  • Directs and coordinates Farm activities such as planting, irrigation, chemical application, harvesting, grading, payroll, and record keeping.
  • Contracts with farmers or independent owners for raising of crops or for management of crop production.
  • Coordinates planting regime activities with the dairy department, equipment maintenance, packinghouses, and other Farm departments.
  • Analyzes market conditions to determine suitable crop and acreage allocations.
  • Links the market and arranges for sale of crops.
  • Records information, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares financial and operational reports.
  • Plans and directs development and production of hybrid plant varieties with high yield with disease and insect resistant characteristics.
  • Sources for appropriate machinery, equipment, and supplies, such as tractors, seed, fertilizer, and chemicals with the approval of the Board of Directors.
  • Hires, discharges, transfer, and promote workers, enforce safety regulations, and interprets policies, in line with Labor Laws.
  • Negotiates with bank officials to obtain credit from bank.
  • Evaluates financial statements and makes budget proposals, to the Board
  • Degree in Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science. 
  • Experience in Animal Fodder/crop production is an added advantage.
  • More than 5 years’ experience in similar position,
  • Must have experience in Management of a Dairy Farm
  • Must be profit oriented with bias in commercial Dairy farming and new technologies
