Background: CaLP is the global partnership for cash transfer programming in humanitarian assistance. 

CaLP currently has 50 members, united by their commitment to our shared mission. 

Collectively, the members of CaLP deliver the vast majority of cash transfer programming in humanitarian assistance worldwide. 

Our members include UN agencies, donors, international NGOs, local NGOs and private sector organisations. 

Our Board, Technical Advisory Group and Global Advocacy Cash Network are all drawn from our membership. CaLP does not deliver cash transfer programmes directly.

A small secretariat works with members to achieve the four strategic objectives set out below:
  • Provide specialist capacity building services and advice.
  • Make the evidence base easily accessible, improve it and apply it through standards and tools.
  • Provide support to coordinating bodies.
  • Ensure influential policy processes advance CTP and the global framework for action.
The East Africa Regional Office is in Nairobi.  

It engages with members and other stakeholders to promote the scale-up of quality CTP. 

Its agenda includes advocacy, promoting improved coordination, information sharing, advice, capacity building and strengthening the evidence base for cash. 

The Regional Office supports work in various country contexts within East Africa.

The Role: This is a great opportunity to join the CaLP team and use your great administration and communication skills to help improve the quality of cash programme in East Africa.

The CaLP Regional Administration and Communications Officer is responsible for the efficient and effective administration of CaLP training courses and events in the region, along with ensuring effective administrative support to the CaLP team in East Africa.  

The post holder is also responsible for updating the CaLP website (East Africa pages) and sharing information about CTP in the region.  

The post-holder also assists in project management functions – helping monitor progress, understanding donor compliance requirements and assisting with the preparation of donor reports.

  • Responsible for the efficient administration of CaLP training courses and events in the region.
  • Develop and maintain efficient and effective systems for training and event administration.
  • Responsible for all communication with training course applicants, including processing letters to successful and unsuccessful applicants.
  • Support the Capacity Building Lead to monitor training course budgets and ensure timely reconciliation of income and expenditure.
  • Update the East Africa pages of the CaLP website.
  • Liaise with Cash Working Groups to gather approved minutes/related documents and upload on the website.
  • Update the East Africa mailing list.
  • Support the preparation of the East Africa bulletin.
  • Assist with the tracking of expenditure against approved budgets, including regular review of transaction reports to check coding of expenditure.
  • Assist with the preparation of narrative and financial reports for donors.
  • Provide administrative, logistical and financial support the CaLP East Africa team.
Person Specification
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrable attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, diplomacy and influencing skills.
  • Some experience of financial management.
  • Degree level education
