FMCG Sales & Marketing Director Job in Nairobi

Our client, involved in the processing and selling of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Kenya is seeking to recruit a highly competent and outstanding individual to fill the position of Sales & Marketing Director.

Location: Nairobi. Frequent Travels within Kenya
Schedule: Full-Time
Reporting To: Chief Executive Officer
Starting Date: As Soon As Possible

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic marketing plans, sales plans and forecasts to achieve the Company’s overall objectives for its products.
  • Develop and manage sales and marketing operating budgets.
  • Plan and oversee advertising and promotion activities of the Company.
  • Develop and recommend product positioning, packaging and pricing strategy geared to achieve the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
  • Ensure effective control of sales and marketing results and take corrective actions so as to ensure that the sales and marketing objectives fall within designated budgets.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image for all product lines, promotional materials and events.
  • Direct sales forecasting activities, set and monitor performance goals for the sales and marketing team.
  • Handle staffing, training and performance evaluations geared to develop and control sales and marketing programs.
  • Oversee and evaluate market research so as to adjust the marketing strategy in line with the changing market and competitive conditions.
  • Monitor competitors’ products, sales and marketing activities.
  • Achieve satisfactory profit/loss ratio and market share in relation to the prevailing standards, industry and economic trends.
Qualifications required:
  • Graduate level in Marketing, Business Studies or related qualification from a reputable university. A Masters degree in Business or related field will be an added advantage.
  • Possession of professional marketing/sales qualification (e.g. CIM and membership to Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) will be an added advantage.)
  • Must be at least 35 years old with a minimum lo years’ relevant and continuous experience at senior management level in a highly dynamic FMCG environment.
  • Computer literate with strong competence ¡n Microsoft Office tools to include Excel, Word and Power point, XP Professional. He /she must have the ability to use the Company’s ERP.

  • Strategic, operational and Situational leadership skills.
  • Result oriented and goal oriented.
  • Thinking conceptually, abstractly, sales negotiations, problem solving and presentation skills crucial to achieve objective and strategic achievements.
  • Networking skills and ability to create & maintain good rapport with partners / stakeholders.
  • Be commercially astute with a solid understanding of the company’s commercial revenue drivers.
  • Have a proven track record of successfully building and leading sales teams to achieve their sales targets
  • Have travelled widely in Kenya in sales drive activities.
