Program Coordinator (PrIYA Program) NGO Job in Nairobi Kenya

Position: Program Coordinator

Reporting to: Principal Investigator
Location: Nairobi
Job Objective: Management of day-to-day activities and implementation of program activities of the PrEP Implementation among Young Women and Adolescents (PrIYA) program, a DREAMS Innovation Challenge Program.

Management Responsibility
  • Provide managerial support to the program team.
  • Responsible over all program matters such as day to day management, resource management
Description of Duties:
  • Provides management oversight in the program through co-ordination and supervision of program activities and supervision of staff in the program.
  • Supports the development of program materials including data collection systems and PrEP Counseling training materials.
  • Plans, implements, monitors and evaluates program activities including:
  1. Preparing program work plans.
  2. Assigning work on program implementation and undertaking continuous coordination and monitoring of the program activities.
  3. Implementing research and development activities.
  • Supports dissemination of program information by preparing program reports on a regular basis.
  • Acts as the key contact for the program to:
  1. Maintain regular communication with members of the program management team and other members of the country Programs.
  2. Initiate and maintain collaboration with other actors on the ground.
  • Ensures program integration and growth by participating in county meetings, NASCOP, JSI and developing new program initiatives.
  • Undertakes other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor, Principal investigator.
Supervision: Work independently on tasks related to program management with periodic reporting and direction from supervisors.
Decision Making: Make decisions on the program implementation and its daily management.
Responsibility over data or information: Has access to important information as regards the program, its budget and the general trend and performance of the program.
Responsibility over Staff:  Responsibility over Program nurses, data clerks and laboratory support staff

Required Qualifications
Professional / Qualifications

Minimal: Degree in Nursing or Medicine

Desirable: Masters level degree in relevant clinical field

Relevant Experience   

  • Hands on training and knowledge in relevant program and management responsibilities.
  • Experience working in public clinics or hospitals
  • Experience with clinic-based data collection and monitoring
  • Experience working in Health facility.
  • Clinical experience in obstetrics and/or HIV related care.
  • Data base management skills
  • Experience managing other team member activities
Length of Experience
Minimal: At least 2 years
Desirable: At least three years

Key Skills

  • Ability to work independently, good leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work with people from all backgrounds
Personal Attributes
Minimal:Mature, personable
