Business Development Manager SSA Job Vacancy

Job Title: Business Development Manager SSA 
Job Summary: Working under strategic direction from Director Distributors & Emerging Markets, is accountable for establishing and attaining Company business goals and providing planning, leadership, growth and direction for Company distributor within the area.  

Acts as the key communication link between the local distributor, the Director Distributors & Emerging Markets and internal organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Sales Planning
  • Designs and implement business strategy into plans, target/setting, forecasts, business reviews on a monthly & quarterly basis and overall business efficiency.
  • Work closely together with Distributors, sales consultants to achieve country/region operating profit, sales volume, market penetration & price realization objectives
  • Report on achieved results on a timely basis to the Director Distributors & Emerging Markets.
  • Links the operations of the area’s BCT sales department with key Marketing internal resources that track results.  Is responsible for area’s BCT sales goals.
  • Management of communication channels, bottom up and top down flow of information throughout the cross functional team, the business and its customers.
  • Work cross-functionally within the business to solve highly unusual and complex problems that have broad business impact.
  • Work across the Region as well as within the EMEA team
  • Represent the company towards local authorities, legal institutions and funding partners
  • Ensure that the quality system, and all company processes and procedures are implemented and maintained in the local organization.
  • Provide input to Marketing on key learning and development in the market place.
  • Coordinate local trade shows with Marketing Communications and Market Manager
  • Have ongoing contacts with relevant healthcare stakeholders, key customers and other HCP with whom the business is connected.
  • Ensure compliance to all internal and applicable external (legal) directives and codes
  • Creates the activities necessary for the Company Distributor sales team to meet its objectives.  
  • Guides distributor Sales/Therapy Specialist team to drive the area’s sales goals.
  • Ensures that distributors have the right coaching, tools and material in order to deliver outstanding performance.
  • Ability to select, enthuse, manage and motivate the distributors to exceed targets.
  • Responsible for organization, business processes and personnel development/coaching, securing retention of key staff
  • Establish and develop infrastructure for professional 2nd level support (application, technical, IT business support)
  • Trigger regular search and manage tender projects successfully
Personal and Professional Development
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the local office with administration and support staff.
  • Maintains a high level of sales and managerial skill, knowledge and ability.
  • Works with Director Distributors & Emerging Markets to solve highly unusual and complex problems that have regional business impact.
  • Serves as a prime contact and spokesperson for the area’s BCT sales and competitive opportunities and issues.
  • Provides input to Director Distributors & Emerging Markets to analyze, direct and review product offerings, competition and market strategies and programs.
  • Constructive and relentless in approach to regional BCT problem solving.  Mentors and motivates other to do the same
  • Designs and implements business strategy into plans, target/setting, forecasts, business reviews on a monthly & quarterly basis and overall business efficiency.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Knowledge necessary to perform at this level is generally acquired through a Master's Degree
  • 8 years sales experience  in medical device or diagnostic area of which a min. of 5 years in leadership position
  • Experience in building successful teams & organizational structures across different countries in SSA
  • Experience in channel management; selecting, driving and managing distributors.
  • Experience & understanding of triggering profitable relationships with third party stakeholders in the healthcare environment such as NGO’s, MOH officials, patient groups,…
  • International work experience, preferably with Europe or US based companies
  • Understands the BCT market, including customer/business issues, alliances, trends, and competitive issues.

  • Language skills: English and French

  • Excellent  interpersonal skills, cross- cultural sensitivity and overall communication skills
  • Good business and financial acumen.
  • Strong problem – solving skills
  • Ability to work in an independent and autonomous way
  • Knowledge of MS Office.
