Job Summary: The Managing Director has overall responsibility over KVM operations of implementation of KVM’s strategic goals and the management of its resources; including giving direction and leadership towards the achievement of KVM’s Mission, implementing Board decisions efficiently and effectively and keeping the Board informed in all strategic aspects of the business.
 
 
He/she will be responsible for the development of short, medium and long-term business and asset planning, execution of strategy, risk management and compliance, and management of human capital to ensure they are highly performing, engaged, developed, motivated and rewarded.
 
In carrying out the above job, the Managing Director will be expected to ensure and uphold best practice Corporate Governance structures and systems in line with KVM’s core values, establish effective internal monitoring and control systems in executing the strategy, develop and nurture a dynamic and competent workforce through a robust performance-driven culture.

Candidates Must
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Law, Economics, Business Management, Engineering or related field from a recognized institution;
  • Have a post graduate degree in any of the above-mentioned fields from a recognized institution, and/or a post graduate diploma in automobile technology will be an added advantage;
  • Be a registered Member of a reputable relevant Professional Body and must be in good standing;
  • Demonstrable understanding in Corporate Governance/Leadership will be an added advantage;
  • Demonstrate knowledge in contract management, good administrative and leadership skills;
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of public service values as outlined under Article 232 of the constitution of Kenya; and
  • Demonstrate distinguished strategic leadership and people skills with a track record of achievements in the Public and/or Private sector.
Skills and Competencies
 
The candidate must possess the following skills and competencies: -
  • Strategic mind-set and ability to recognize emerging issues and align them to the company’s mission, vision and strategy;
  • Track record in delivering profits, results and transformation with full P&L management responsibility;
  • Ability to oversee the conceptualization, design, development of and undertake structured evaluation and review of projects and programmes;
  • Effective initiative facilitation and team leadership skills;
  • Ability to continuously monitor and acquire knowledge/market intelligence on relevant industry trends and developments;
  • Good leadership, coordination, planning and organizational skills;
  • Proactive, initiative, with good networking, negotiation and collaborative skills;
  • Have ability to work in a multi-cultural and multi ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;
  • An understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques;
  • A high level of commercial awareness;
  • Keen on detail and strict deadlines with undisputable respect and integrity; and
  • Excellent analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
