MSF Switzerland Base Logistician Job in Nairobi

Medecins Sans Frontieres – Switzerland Kenya Mission
MSF Switzerland (MSFCH) is a humanitarian medical organization providing emergency medical aid to populations in need based in Dagahaley and Likoni, Mombasa Sub County.

Job Title: Base Logistician
Location: Coordination Office, Nairobi   
Start date: Immediately
Length of contract: 12 months fixed term contract with possibility of extension based on performance (Includes 3 month probationary period)

The selected candidate will be reporting to Deputy Logistics Coordinator

Main Tasks include, but not limited to:

1. Fleet management
  • Supervise drivers.
  • Plan movements and vehicles for project travel.
  • Closely monitor fuel consumption and manage generator fuel supply.
  • Ensure vehicle insurance, licensing and documentation
  • Ensure mechanics use all administrative documents.
  • Manage fleet as stipulated in the Mission CSP.
2. Repairs and maintenance
  • Ensure facilities remain in good state (plumbing, lighting, roofing, furniture etc.).
  • Ensure equipment remain in good state (power supply, cold chain, energy, maintenance tools etc.).
  • Supervise technician, contracted labourers and maintenance staff.
  • Upon request assist project logs with technical issues (repairs, construction and watsan).
  • Follow-up projects equipment repairs sent to Nairobi and keep the field logs informed.
3. Power supply and cold chain
  • Supervise (and assist) technician in installation and minor repair of generators, cabling, chargers/inverters, batteries, protection devices etc.
  • Supervise (and assist) technician in maintenance of cold chain, lighting etc.
4. Expat support in the capital
  • Responsible for capital technical briefings.
  • Be the contact person for expats visiting the capital.
  • In charge of expat houses maintenance in capital, fire safety equipment &  alarm systems
5. Security management
  • Supervise the subcontracted guards to ensure MSFCH property is well guarded at all times.
  • Ensure all guards are vigilant and security aware.
  • Together with DLogco ensure that communication checks with the projects teams on a trip or outreach and vehicles is executed according to the procedures and security-guidelines
  • Proactively communicate information about security issues concerning the projects and the capital
6. Equipment management
  • Inventories and the reallocation of equipment
  • Responsible for the disposal of the obsolete items in conjunction with the Logco and Deputy LogCo

Education: Secondary Education
Experience: Desirable experience with other NGOs.
Languages: English, Local language desirable
Knowledge: Computer literacy and  radio equipment user-knowledge
