KNCU Chief Administration Officer Job in Kenya

The Kenya National Commission for UNESCO is a State Corporation established under the KNATCOM Act of 2013 which aims to advance UNESCO’s agenda in Kenya by contributing to peace and sustainable development through promotion of international standards and best practices in the five fields of UNESCO’s competence namely: Education, Natural Sciences, Social & Human Sciences, Culture and Communication & Information.

To enable it fulfill its mandate, the Commission wishes to recruit a dynamic, result-oriented and self-driven person to fill the following vacant position specifically under the terms and conditions advertised:

Job Title: Chief Administration Officer

Grade: KNC 6
Reports To: DSG, Corporate Support Services
Classification: Middle Management Level
Purpose of the Job: To ensure implementation of the General Administration policies
  • Gross Pay Ksh. 121,000 – 153,000 Pm
  • Leave Allowance – Ksh. 6,000
  • Medical Allowance – As per scheme rules
  • Group Life & Accident Cover– As per scheme rules
Terms: Permanent and Pensionable
Pension Contribution rate (basic salary)
  • Employee - 7.5%
  • Employer - 12.5%
Function of the Administration Division: The Division exists to coordinate general administration activities which include: office services; hospitality services; office events; internal communications; property and assets management; transport services; registry services; library services; and safety and security services and emergency and disaster management.

Job Profile
Duties and Responsibilities: The officer will be responsible to the DSG, Corporate Support Services for the coordination and implementation of the general administrative services in a results oriented and timely manner to achieve the Corporations’ goals, objectives and agreed performance targets. 

This will entail inter alia:
  1. Provide leadership and guidance within the Administration Division;
  2. Assist in coordinating general administration and planning activities;
  3. Develop and implement the budget, annual operational plans, and performance contract of the Division;
  4. Coordinate the formulation of the Division’s internal policies, strategies, and plans and ensure their implementation thereof;
  5. Assist in coordinating the establishment of effective and efficient administrative structures, processes, systems and internal controls;
  6. Ensure a safe, secure, modern and risk averse holistic work environments;
  7. Monitor and ensure the Commissions effective compliance to statutory regulations;
  8. Ensure timely preparation of relevant quarterly and annual reports;
  9. Provide regular communication to the DSG, Corporate Support Services on key internal administrative matters; and
  10. Any other tasks as may be assigned by the Secretary General/CEO through the DSG, Corporate Affairs.
Job Specifications
Academic & Professional Qualifications
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields namely; Business Administration, Social Sciences, Arts, Government, Law, Political Science or Public Administration from a recognized and accredited institution; and
  • A post graduate Diploma in Business Administration, Government Studies, Human Resource, Public Administration or any other related fields from a recognized and accredited institution;
  • Being a registered Member of a relevant professional body will be an added advantage 
  • Possess a minimum of ten (10) years continuous experience in the administration or management professions of a reputable organization with at least two (2) years’ being at an equivalent or comparable middle management position dealing with administration and management responsibilities; 
  • Demonstrated good industry knowledge and experience of corporate administrative processes and procedures 
  • Demonstrated working experience with financial, material and human capital management processes 
  • Possess good knowledge of corporate governance operation frameworks
Personal Qualities: Team player, resourceful, flexible, have integrity and commitment to production results, self-motivated, dependable, organized, professional and must satisfy the requirements of chapter six of the Constitution of Kenya on leadership and integrity.
