System Administrator - General Insurance Business Job in Kenya

Job Vacancy: System Administrator - General Insurance Business
 
Required by our Client, a progressive and dynamic General Insurance Company
 
Primary Responsibility: Responsible for network design, installation/configuration, troubleshooting, operation and maintenance of systems hardware / software and related infrastructure. 


Managing network hubs, routers, and servers according to service level agreements, to monitor underlying communications protocols and supporting network hardware.
 
Key Responsibilities    
  • Manage I.T hardware, software and consumables to ensure flawless synergy of resources within the organization.
  • Regularly review I.T infrastructure requirements and make relevant recommendations 
  • monitor service level agreements with service providers to ensure Company receives best value for money possible
  • Design and document systems configurations and management according to user needs, utilizing outside support resources as appropriate
  • Monitor security procedures to safeguard system from physical harm and viruses, unauthorized users, and damage to data for all IT systems running in the Company
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Upgrade and configure system software that supports the business applications per project or operational needs.
  • Manage change and disruptions as well as identifying infrastructure problems and escalate to second line of support
  • Implement, review and test the business continuity plan and disaster recovery plans   
  • Document and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
  • Analyze and prepare regular reports on work load, including traffic and utilization trends
  • Perform Network analysis i.e. analyze data flow and technical requirements to define  network strategy and equipment required to meet projected data traffic,
  • Provide Support Services i.e. by identify the hardware and software needed to provide solutions to problems, assists in the customization and adaptation of existing programs to meet users' requirements,
  • Connect users to networks and provides initial training in facilities and applications
  • Monitor systems in order to optimize performance and to initiate recovery action after systems failures
  • Implement regular housekeeping procedures, including data backup, manages the distribution and retention of data on various storage devices
Requirements:
  • University Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science will be an advantage,
  • Two years’ working experience,
  • Microsoft Certified Professional in Windows server and Microsoft Windows, A+ Hardware, A+ Networking and hands-on experience on WAN/LAN administration, hardware and software support,
  • Project coordination skills, flexible and a reliable team player with excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in enterprise messaging systems (Exchange, Outlook, Exchange ActiveSync, Exchange Web Services) and Microsoft Hyper-V (clustering, replication, etc.)
  • Familiar with backup technologies such as Backup Exec, Netbackup  and storage networks (iSCSI/ FC), and EMC storage (CX/VNX)
  • Excellent Windows troubleshooting skills (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Subnetting, Windows 7, Windows 10 etc.)
