Job Vacancy: Regional Program Officer - Africa
 
Position Description: The Wood Foundation Africa (TWFA) is a subsidiary of The Wood Foundation, a Scottish registered charity based in Aberdeen, Scotland, with regional headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

Established in 2009, TWFA takes a venture philanthropy approach, aiming to improve livelihoods by stimulating viable market opportunities and undertaking targeted investments that will in turn create jobs and generate wealth among the rural poor.
 
 
As TWFA expands its sector and country presence in the region. a Regional Program Officer is required to support opportunity identification, strategy development, and implementation of the existing portfolio.

General Position Description: Based in Nairobi, the Regional Program Officer will play an integral role within TWFA’s operations, reporting to the Director of Africa and working closely with the senior management team. 

The position will initially support the current portfolio of tea investments and industry programs, but over time will have the opportunity to engage with TWFA’s emerging presence in climate change, as well as support TWFA’s expansion into new sectors and countries in the region.
 
Specific Responsibilities Include
  • Participate in new business development and sector/country expansion efforts
  • Conduct Due Diligence and Project Feasibility
  • Provide Transaction Support and Portfolio Implementation
  • Assist with Reporting and Stakeholder communications
Qualifications
 
The Regional Program Officer will be a Kenyan national, and have a commercial orientation, whether through direct experience in an agribusiness industry, or through management consulting or investment finance work with the private sector.

Key qualifications include:
  • Masters Degree n Business Administration (MBA) required:
  • At least 2-5 years experience in a commercial consulting, investment finance, or agribusiness-related field;
  • Passion for economic development and improving livelihoods through commercially minded interventions; enthusiasm for venture philanthropy and impact investing;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English; command of Kiswahili preferred;
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the region;
  • Self-motivated professional with impeccable integrity; and
  • Ability to think strategically and work diplomatically within a broader team environment.
