Catholic University Academics Registrar

The Catholic University of Eastern Africa is seeking to recruit a hands-on, dynamic, knowledgeable and performance-oriented person to fill the position of Registrar, Academics.
 
Reporting to: Deputy Vice Chancellor / Academic Affairs and Research
 
JOB SUMMARY: To provide leadership to plan, organize and manage all of the activities related to the admissions, enrolment records and registration of students, including serving as the official authorized keeper of the University's student records.
 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for effective administrative academic systems in line with University policies and procedures in line with the best practices;
  • Ensure effective coordination and planning of units to be taught in accordance with University curricula/syllabuses, and rules and regulations governing the implementation of academic programmes;
  • Organise and administer the records, registration and graduation functions, including transcript evaluations, health profession admissions and the IAI certification process in order to provide maximum service to students while ensuring efficient and effective workflow;
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy and security of academic records (production and issuance of official academic transcripts and certificates) of current and former students;
  • Ensure effective students admission, registration and enrolment;
  • Interpret and enforce policies and regulations of the University touching on academic matters;
  • Provide leadership and develop appropriate recommendations for the implementation of related technology application in support of enhanced services offered through registration and records;
  • Develop and administer the departmental budget;
  • Problem solve the research, analysis and resolution of student disputes as they relate to records and registration;
  • Collaborate with administrators, deans, faculty, IT and counsellors to facilitate and improve services to students, including catalogue and registration/records policy;
  • Serves as Secretary to the Senate;
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.

  • Effective administration of academic systems.
  • Systematic coordination of delivery of academic programmes.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD or equivalent doctoral degree.
  • Eight years of experience in an administrative role in a learning institution.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the application of technology to deliver records and registration services.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to guide, counsel and mentor students.
  • A proven record in working successfully with diverse populations.
  • Outstanding managerial and administrative capability to collaborate effectively with college departments and cross-functional teams.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
