Head Infrastructure Job in Kenya

Job Title: Head Infrastructure

Projects & Operations
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer

Position Summary: This positions Directs, interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates infrastructure projects that ensure assignments and projects are completed safely, efficiently and must be economically viable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical, managerial and supervisory direction in all engineering and technical activities concerning the review design, work order preparation, construction, and construction management, scheduling and budgeting of proposed and existing infrastructure projects.
  • Develop capital and operating cost estimates and engineering feasibility.
  • Provide technical and supervisory direction for studies of technical, environmental and economic feasibility, engineering field studies, and related surveys pertaining to proposed and existing infrastructure projects.
  • Supervises and approves the design and as-constructed drawings relating to infrastructure projects.
  • Provide technical and managerial direction in preparation of contracts and specifications for engineering and structural services of infrastructure projects.
  • Provides technical, managerial and supervisory direction to develop guidelines for necessary changes in the Company infrastructure projects and coordinates proposed changes.
  • Power Supply and Operations. Selection and control of engineering and construction management consultants, contractors, and suppliers of equipment for infrastructure projects.
  • Coordinates the engineering, material acquisition, and construction of numerous concurrent infrastructure projects projects and ensures that construction is on schedule.
  • Provide technical and managerial direction for special projects of a complex nature requiring engineering and technical expertise. This responsibility includes such projects as:
  • Provides background information, documentation and expert advice for management consideration on major projects and technical matters involving advanced theories concepts and principles.
  • Has responsibility for the budget, manpower requirements and control associated with the operation of his/her area of responsibility. In addition, has the responsibility to direct the projection and completion of other capital and operating expenses which have been assigned to his/her area.
  • Responsible for work habits and work environment of the department to eliminate health & safety exposures.
  • Organizes and develops assigned staff with appropriate management, professional, and supervisory techniques to provide increasingly effective performance.
  • Negotiates or directs others in negotiations of infrastructure projects designs.
Qualifications & Attributes
  • Structural/Electrical/Telecoms Engineer with vast knowledge in Telecom business development and management.
  • Excellent Project management skills
  • Masters Degree in a relevant field.
  • Registration with an Engineering body.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the engineering field, out of which 3 years should be in a Senior Managerial position.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative management style.
  • Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing the team
  • Must be a good team player
  • A good listening skill is required for the job.
  • Must be able to work towards meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret reports, procedures and regulations.
