USADF Youth Entrepreneurship Summit Facilitator

Terms of Reference (TOR) for Facilitator of Youth Entrepreneurship Summit
Tentative: Nairobi, Kenya 26-28 February 2018
1. Background: The United States African Development Foundation (USADF), an independent agency of the U.S. Federal Government, seeks to convene around 75 of its current and past grantees of its Youth Entrepreneurship Portfolio for a 3-day conference focusing on networking and business skills development that is tentatively scheduled for 26-28 February in Nairobi, Kenya. 

These grantees have been awarded between US$10,000 and US$50,000 in seed capital to start or expand their business. 

USADF wishes to bring these current and past grantees together to touch on a number of topics relevant to their continued personal development as entrepreneurs and business leaders. 

USADF in collaboration with its in-country partner CEZAM seeks a facilitator or team of facilitators to support the curriculum presentation of this conference. 

The facilitator(s) should have experience in youth entrepreneurship and conducting trainings in a conference setting.
2. Scope of Work:
The objective of the assignment is to design and facilitate the anticipated 3-day conference that shall include trainings on, but not limited to, such business skills development subjects as:
  • Business Leadership
  • Financial Management (basic and mid-level)
  • Leveraging Technology
  • Managing Venture Growth
  • Managing Risk
  • Follow on Funding
The facilitator should expect to be present for the first two days of the conference providing approximating 4-5 hours of content per day.

3. Proposed Schedule / Timeline:

5. Required skills and competences:
  • University degree in related field
  • Organization / individual facilitator must have minimum of 5 years experience in developing and facilitating trainings
  • Track record to conduct related training and can produce examples of workshop materials previously developed
  • Fluency in English. French helpful but not necessary.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • General knowledge of business and finance
  • Will be able to include participatory exercises as part of the programming.
6. Submission:
A technical and financial proposal based on the Terms of Reference outlined above must be provided by no later than January 8th. 

The proposal must include:
  • Full Curriculum Vitae of the facilitator
  • Costs for undertaking the exercise
  • Copy of the report of similar training done
  • 3 reference who will be able to speak to your skills as a facilitator
